Volcanoes National Park

This amazing park is situated in the far north west of Rwanda. It is home of the rare mountain gorillas; looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of these gentle giants is surely the most exciting and poignant wild life encounter that Africa has to offer.

Gorilla

It is also home to other species of primates like the golden monkeys, the evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, heath and swamps. It covers 5 peaks of dormant volcanoes; Karisimbi (4507m), Muhabura (4127m), Bisoke (3711m), Sabyinyo (3634m) and Gahinga (3474m). Some of these volcanoes are hiked, you could enjoy the nice view of the crater lakes found at their peaks. Closer to the park are the ‘twin lakes’ Burera and Ruhondo. These offer a magic view to those who may take a scenic drive all around them.
